!!!!!!strictly limited to 500 copies!!!!!! together with stefan goldmanns debut cd the transitory state, macro releases a strictly limited box set containing five 7? records holding the electroacoustic album voices of the dead. with his releases for innervisions, perlon and macro stefan goldmann has been a key figure at the cutting edge of post minimal techno and the renewal of house music. this album is a distinctively different affair though, reaching far beyond the scope of dancefloor electronics. starting a trilogy of concept albums, stefan goldmann searches for the common root of all music in an electroacoustic setting. from this album turret is already renowned as the intro sequence of richie hawtins groundbreaking de9 transitions mix compilation and was also commissioned by the biblioteque nationale de france for the imeb phonoteque public collection. the artist explains: at first sight we recognise upfront elements like a melody or rhythmic pattern, which we associate with a certain piece or style of music, but there is tension between two notes, hard-to-define background information that at a closer look is found everywhere - within the music of coltrane and stravinsky, death metal and 9th century byzantine chants. if there is anything like a total, secret common ground, than its this information lurking in the background. these are the voices of the dead, the heritage of an endless line of ancestors brought forward through the centuries. i tried to make these elements audible as clearly as possible. really like this weird space ambient one. ive put katorga and izo already into my final scratch computer and have been playing them! hot off the heels of onur Özers most excellent mind melt album kasmir, released october of 2007, comes the reinterpretations on vakants vr division. wonderfully thought out, vr handles remixes exclusively leaving vakant itself pure to its artists. this constellation leaves everyone free to the corruption of their fancy, allowing the artists to choose their own remixers. with onur, finding willing interpreters is not a difficult task and the heavy of the heavies representing the light and dark sides of the force are here on vr04. on the a side loco dice, aka tunisian born yassine ben achour, takes onurs instrument laden >eclipse< and puts it through the treatment. what comes out the other end is popping state-of-the-art tech house with onurs depth and loco dices spontaneous flow. on the flip things get serious. jens zimmermann , the deep, deep, freak out master hailing from frankfurt, contributes his own spin on >sahara<

these hand-picked tracks are now available on a dj-friendly 2-sided-4-tracks-vinyl-ep and let me tell you, they are well worth the extra investment. the first of the bunch starts off with big man lexys fancy girl, an ever-growing minimal techy peak-time-pusher with a hushed vocal-sample, some anaologue signal sounds and a futuristic and pumping beat. add a great distorted melody to this on the breakdown and the dancefloor will thank you for putting this on: they will go mental! after this introduction, its the newcomers mickey monzza & joseph discos turn with their equally stimulating track lonely. this is a great modern piece of pumping dub techno with a straight-forward attitude. the hi-hats on this tune are mesmerezing, the clappy snares and sirens perfectly placed and the subtle dubby and groovy melody an ideal antithesis to this hectically moving tune. simply nice! but hold on, there is more to come. on the flip there is hamburgs house impressario h.o.s.h. with his track ben johnson and whether this title is a reference to the legendary sportsman or not, its a pretty record-worthy track: wonderful little stabs and vocal sounds and a bassline so warm and groovy it makes your heart melt. then when the breakdown hits you with its long and winding signal sound, the dancefloor will already be bathing in a floor filled with sweet happiness. this is truely delicious! the two newcomers and residents at hive club in zurich animaltrainer have the honour to finish off this ep with their oily tech-house-anthem talkshow, a superb main-floor-peak-time-melody-affair.

played by c-rock, d julz, gregor tresher, 2000 and one, minilogue and many more… like no other german producer, hannover-born martin buttrich has been decisively influencing the sound aesthetics of electronic dance music since the middle of the nineties. having been more in the background for most of the time while working for and with timo maas and loco dice among others, his benchmark releases for carl craigs label planet e or poker flat have also spotlighted his original name in the public. buttrichs second ep for cocoon couldnt prove better his prediction that in 2008, minimal techno will be containing more warm and melodic components. strangely familiar but always surprising, again and i lost my wallet provide us with bassprone reduction somewhere in between techno and house, and harmony bits that remind of caribbean calypso sounds provide the feeling of the approaching summer which makes both tracks perfect for the final of the open air season 2008. at least, buttrich will be an integral part of the season closing between ibiza main river and spree.

the latest release on rising trax is this cheeky little ep from max vangeli. three top draw tracks on show here. >crazed< starts simple yet effective and builds slowly into a big distorted guitar hook before dropping back into a very militant rhythm. >k.e.j.i< is a stripped down prog house number with a wicked groove overlaid with nice stabs and a cool hook. the final track of the ep is >i rock< which begins as a minimal house track then drops with some cool squeaks, bleeps and delayed noises. the stabs turn into a big snyth riff which can only be described as large!
